This is how you protect yourself against dry skin in the winter
Unfortunately, dry skin and a cold temperature often go hand in hand. The autumn and winter season can often have a very negative impact on our skin. Certainly in combination with dry air and low humidity.
Your skin has its own defense mechanisms, but during the fall and winter your skin needs extra protection. Many of us use the same moisturizer all year round, but it's important to tailor our skincare products to the season we're in. During the winter, our skin needs a richer cream, which moisturizes more deeply.
Protecting and treating your skin with lotions, balms, oils scrubs can restore the skin temporarily, but often these products contain chemicals, perfumes or alcohol, which cause long-term damage and further dry out and irritate the skin. Care products with natural ingredients are often a good, but very expensive alternative.
Do you often suffer from dry skin during the winter? Then we have good news for you. Below we have listed 4 DIY natural recipes that will completely restore your skin. They are 100% natural and easy to make. In addition to these recipes, we also offer you some home and kitchen tips to help your skin survive the winter as best as possible.
- Use a non-toxic sunscreen
It is important to use protection with an SPF factor all year round. It is not only UVB (sun) rays that are harmful to the skin. UVA rays can dry out and age your skin all year round. If you go on a ski holiday, your skin is even more vulnerable due to exposure to intense UVB rays, so be sure to use a sunscreen with a high SPF factor in the mountains.
- Use a separate eye cream
When the air is cold, wrinkles can form around your eyes because your skin around your eyes is very thin. That is why it is very important to provide extra protection during the cold months. Later in this article you can read how to make an easy-to-prepare eye cream of high quality.
- Maintain your fluid balance
Many of us start drinking less water when it's cold outside, even though we still need about two liters of water a day to keep our bodies hydrated. Herbal teas are a great alternative to coffee to keep our skin hydrated.
- Interpret your body's signals
Usually the lips show the first signs of dehydration. As soon as signs of dry skin appear anywhere on the body, immediately start to care for this area with a moisturizing cream to prevent it from spreading further to your face.
- Take short showers
Hot showers are wonderful during the winter, but warm water lowers the moisture balance of the skin. So try to limit the time in the shower, and use a moisturizing cream after showering.
The following DIY products are quick and easy to make, cheap and of excellent quality for your skin. They will give your skin the firmness and hydration it needs to get through the cold months unscathed.
