Camphor essential oil is made from the Cinnamomum camphora (camphor tree).
For centuries, Camphor essential oil has been used in China and India for both religious and medicinal purposes. They believed that the vapors released from camphor oil had healing effects on the mind and body.
There are four types of camphor oil, white, blue; yellow and brown.
White camphor oil is the only type that can be used in therapeutic applications, both aromatic and medicinal.
The scent of camphor oil is considered to be cleansing, intense and pungent, making it ideal for removing insects such as mosquitoes. Traditionally, camphor was also used in mothballs to keep pests out of fabrics.
